With the encouragement of a mother who couldn't sew
a button on, I taught myself to sew as a child, making all my own
clothes as well as many for my family. While working at a local,
privately owned fabric store, I experienced training and educational
opportunities with many well known sewing instructors. This expanded
my interest and knowledge from just garment making to embellishment
sewing and machine quilting techniques, as well as many others.
During that time, I began to share my love of sewing by teaching
others. I have taught individual and group private lessons, given
classes at many of the JoAnn Fabrics’ as well as independent
sewing stores. I have also taught at Lakewood and Parma Adult Education
and Cuyahoga Valley Career Center.
As a sewer, I am always looking for good quality, affordable fashion
fabric. Since the Cleveland area has not had an independent fabric
store for many years, I decided to fill that void and opened Janie's
Sewing Corner on September 26, 2005. The response has been wonderful
and I hope to continue for many years to come!
Stop by and I’m sure you, too, will find a fabulous piece
of fabric that you MUST have in your collection!
